who is she?
Laura Makabresku from Poland is into the aesthetics of darkness and death, but she manages somehow to make her photos gorgeous though weird, moreover - weird and therefore gorgeous. There's always a story behind a picture, a strange fairytale and you are not sure there's a happy end. This love for the gloom might come out of her childhood, as she grew up surrounded by her grandfather's dead animals, but it all works for her and her photographs, which are definitely pieces of art.
my exploration
I chose this artist because it links into Sophie Ryder's theme of half animal half human. I find this artists work very depressing and morbid as she seems to cut herself in most of her images. The naturalness of the human body is explicit throughout these images which links into the title of natural forms, the skin colour always seems pale and ill. The back grounds are either of the wildlife of brown vintage rooms. some of the props she uses include stuffed animals. It links very much to mental illness that is formed by a humans surroundings but happens naturally. Her work is very emotional and can tell a story, you almost just wonder what is going through the artists mind when she is taking the photograph's or when she is planning what she is going to do.

FARAJI YOUSSEFE MUSIC - LAURA MAKABRESKU PHOTOGRAPHY |
This photo creates emotion for the viewer. It isn't a normal sight so therefore people will feel differently whilst looking at the photography. It almost becomes intriguing to look at, as it isn't something you would like to see but you don't often see it so you may take longer to evaluate. The light is shone form above to emphasise the character in the photograph which is the main part. the background is simply grass but it makes the photograph more natural and fits in with the artists theme. The grass forms a frame for the main subject, it covers the entire boundary of the photograph. The fact that the girl has a dears head represents that all humans having different sides and not always acting sain. Humans can only cope with enough stress before the start behaving unnatural and some people way of releasing pain is to do what is shown in this photograph. The vantage is straight infront of the subject to capture all the importance of the photo. the distribution of visual elements in the photograph are very simply as there is only one element and that it very central. the girl appear more prominent because it is the central part of the photograph and is most clearly focused on in the photograph.. It is very symmetrical everything is distributed evenly, the background is all the same and on every edge the photography fades out dark. The actual physical setting is very rural and adds to the natural forms them. The surrounding are very real and not artificial. Her dress is white and it contrast wit the colour of the blood, the dress emphasises the blood and makes it stand out more. as the blood is the most emotional part of the photograph it needs to stand out more than everything else on the photography.
artist originalsmy for Laura Makabresku from Poland keen grim aesthetics of death, but she manages to create beautiful , though gloomy picture , moreover, dark and beautiful because pictures . For her work there is always the whole story , a strange tale, is not necessarily a happy ending . This love of gloomy perhaps comes from his childhood , which she spent surrounded grandfather stuffed animals , but it helps her to create photographs that definitely can be called art.

photograph analysisThe girl is the subject of the photography, her head is tilted back as she peers above the shrubs, she seems focused on one particular object. She is illuminated so this gives the view the information that her surroundings are bright and it is the middle of the day, the light highlights the girls this shows that she is the subject the photograph. Her surroundings seem cold and the photograph has a brisk atmosphere the snow caught in the bracken tells us this. The dark colour of the background contracts with the pale colour of the girls dress and skin tone, the contrast give the photo value because there is a range of colours form dark to light. The lightest part is the girls skin and the snow in the bracken in the background. Snow has connotations of freezing, cold and pure. This informs the viewer that the girl has icy cold skin, she can also be seen as pure with links to she snow. The bracken seem to fram the girl and enclose her in. the bracken is all the way around the photographs boundaries apart from where her legs are, confining her and making her the most important part of the photograph. The scenery is very real and not the slightest artificial the photographer hasn't done anything to change the naturalness of the setting. The vantage point of the photographer is a few metres parallel behind the subject.
what i'm hoping to create |
Photograph analysisIn this photograph the girl and her pet are the subject, her head is tilted down looking at the animal watching it. She could be thinking of how the animal is captured just like she is in todays society, if the ferret brakes free then it will run off into the wilderness just like she wishes she could do. Her dark green coat fits in with the naturalness of the photograph, it also contrasts with the pure white of the snow in the distance.
