my exploration
I am very lucky to live in an area surrounded by wildlife so I dont have to travel far to find a scene to create my photograph's, my house backs onto miles of farm land and trans-pennine trails. In these images it is my sister that is modelling as her hair is mousey blonde, long and natural. Her figure is slender which fits in with the photos that Makabresku takes, she is wearing a dress that can relate to fairy tales just like the artist in question asks her models to wear. I took many pictures of my sister in different postions and themed them around my artists so I used the different ideas that she had. On some of my pictures I put skin colour tights over my lens to form an easy filter to make the image look more vintage and old fashioned. I told my sister to crouch and reach high to just investigate the different positions that Makabresku also used with her models.

photograph analysis

In this photograph the girl and her pet are the subject, her head is tilted down looking at the animal watching it. She could be thinking of how the animal is captured just like she is in today's society, if the ferret brakes free then it will run off into the wilderness just like she wishes she could do. the angle of the photograph is square and straight on, it isn't set on an angle. These is depth of field, the girl is in focus whereas the trees in the background are blurred and aren't as visible because they aren't as important as what is in the foreground. The vantage of photographs about a meter away as you can see I was pretty close to the protagonist of this photo as can only fit her upper half in the over all photograph. Her dark green coat fits in with the naturalness of the photograph, it also contrasts with the pure white of the snow in the distance. There is a range of tones from black to white in the image which creates this good contrast, the darkest value is within the ferrets fur and the lightest is where the snow has landed in the background, so there is composition in the photograph. The light in the photograph is very soft, I used the light from the sun to take this photograph. If I could feel the photograph it would be cold with the winter air, when I was there it was a very crisp morning and it was early so I could still catch the sun rising so the light wasn't too harsh. the distribution of visual elements in this photo are very central and are very much real and not artificial apart from the clothes on the models back.

Photograph Analysis
Photograph Analysis
The area of focus in this photograph is the crouching girl that is looking into the hedge row. The overall photograph is quite dull apart from the top left corner. This light highlights the girl and the snow so it highlights the purer things. It is a natural light coming from the sun, which makes it a very soft light. All the shapes are organic such as the hedge, leaves and snow. If i could touch the image it would feel cold and would be very spacious. If i felt the ground I would get dirt on my hands and I would be damp and cold. There are a range of different tones in the photograph from the pure white of the snow to the dark shadows that lay between the branches of the hedge. The vantage point of this photograph is about three meters away from the girl. the distribution of visual elements in the photograph are very asymmetrical, the visual elements are not evenly distributed in the image. The girl appears most prominently and most clearly focused in the photograph is the girl. This photograph overall gives a natural feel to the view, it is set in a small forest so therefore the physical surroundings are real and not artificial.
